Fees and commissions are subject to applicable provincial taxes.
How revenue share and stock awards work
Revenue share. eXp pays 50% of the company’s portion of the split (the 20% of the 80/20) back to the agents who helped the brokerage grow. When an agent you sponsored closes a transaction, part of eXp’s revenue from it is paid to you.
Stock awards. Agents earn eXp stock at production milestones, such as a first transaction and reaching the cap. The ICON award is up to $16,000 CAD in stock for high-production and cultural goals. Stock awards vest over time.
Since its launch in Canada, eXp says it has paid more than $111.5 million CAD in revenue share to Canadian agents, including over $26.3 million CAD to Canadian residential participants in 2025.

What real estate jobs in Ottawa does The Reality Group offer?
Three paths. Join our team as a Real Estate Agent on the Ottawa Team or the GTA Team, join our network as an independent agent, team or team leader with Northern Alliance and eXp, or become a city partner and bring The Reality Group and RStudio to a new market. Each path is for agents and prospective team leaders, including people still completing their licensing courses.
What happens after I apply?
Your application reaches the team with the path and the market or role you chose. Then the team follows up with you to talk it through.
What does it cost to join eXp?
In Canada, eXp lists a $199 CAD start-up fee, a $139 CAD monthly cloud brokerage fee and a $29 CAD broker review fee per transaction, with a $17 CAD risk management fee in western provinces only. Agents keep 80% of their commission until a $16,000 CAD annual cap, then 100%, with smaller fees per transaction. Amounts as published by eXp Realty Canada, read 2026-10-13.
Can I join if I am newly licensed?
Yes. eXp requires an active real estate licence. Newly licensed agents join the eXpand Mentoring Program, paired with a certified eXp mentor in the same area, and an additional 20% split on the first three transactions funds that mentoring. On our team you also work alongside our team leads, Megan Stagg in Ottawa and Ashley Sala in the GTA.
What is the difference between joining the team and joining the network?
Join Our Team is for building your real estate career with The Reality Group, on the Ottawa Team or the GTA Team, with brand and marketing, mentorship and coaching, content creation, staging and design resources and admin support around you.
Join Our Network is for individual agents, and for teams and team leaders, who want to grow independently but never alone: the Northern Alliance community, collaboration with eXp Realty, Brokerage, training and events, referral opportunities, revenue share education and business growth support.
Can I join from outside Ottawa or the GTA?
The team works in Ottawa and the GTA. To bring The Reality Group and RStudio into a new market, choose Become a City Partner. Not sure which path fits? Choose the closest one and tell us where you are in your application.
Can I apply before I am licensed?
Yes. Megan mentors new and aspiring agents, and the application asks where you are in your career, including completing your licensing courses.
How do I become a real estate agent in Ontario?
You complete the pre-registration education that RECO, the Real Estate Council of Ontario, requires, then register with RECO as a salesperson. A salesperson trades in real estate on behalf of a brokerage, so you register through the brokerage you join.

What does the application ask for?
Your name, email and phone, where you are in your career, your current brokerage if you have one, and a few words about you and what you are looking for. The path and the market or role you chose are sent with it.
