More Ottawa neighbourhoods we cover
Nepean
Nepean is the former city west of Ottawa’s inner core, independent until the 2001 amalgamation; its township dates from 1792 and it became a city on November 24, 1978. Barrhaven, Bells Corners and Centrepointe grew inside it, and Algonquin College’s main campus is here.
Merivale Road is its retail centre, and the Colonnade Road Business Park lies west of it, on the road where our office stands, 75D Colonnade Road North. Centrepointe’s Ben Franklin Place, Nepean’s former city hall, holds a branch library and the Centrepointe Theatre. For its largest suburb, see Barrhaven. Our Nepean homes for sale page covers Nepean and Bells Corners in full.
Hintonburg
Hintonburg is in Kitchissippi Ward, west of downtown, with Wellington Street West as its commercial strip and the Parkdale Market just north of it. North of Wellington the homes are mostly century-old wood clapboard houses; south of it, brick-veneer houses from the 1910s and 1920s. Our Westboro page covers Hintonburg in full.
Hunt Club
Hunt Club is in River Ward, just north of the airport and east of the Rideau River, named for the Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club. It was built from the 1970s, with detached and semi-detached houses, townhouses and apartment buildings, and seven city parks. More on our Alta Vista page.
Centretown
Centretown is in Somerset Ward, bounded by Gloucester and Lisgar Streets, the Rideau Canal, the Queensway and Bronson Avenue. Bank and Elgin Streets are its commercial streets. It mixes original single-family homes with infill, townhouses and low-rise and high-rise apartments, and a condominium boom since the late 1990s added many towers north of Cooper Street.
Landmarks include the Canadian Museum of Nature and Dundonald Park. South across the Queensway is the Glebe.
Rockcliffe Park
Rockcliffe Park, in Rideau-Rockcliffe Ward northeast of downtown on the Ottawa River, was founded in 1864 and was an independent village from 1926 until 2001. The whole former village has been a Heritage Conservation District since 1977, and under the district plan council approved in 2016, a heritage permit is needed before altering or demolishing a property. Expect narrow, curving roads without sidewalks, generous lots and many trees.
Manor Park
Manor Park, east of Rockcliffe Park in the same ward, is bounded by the Sir George-Étienne Cartier Parkway, the Aviation Parkway, Montreal Road and Birch Avenue. Most of its houses were built in the late 1940s and early 1950s by a consortium of five Ottawa developers, as Ottawa’s first post-war subdivision. Its Village of Cardinal Glen section dates from 1988.
Gloucester
Gloucester is the former municipality east of Ottawa’s inner core, a township from 1792 and a city from 1981 until the 2001 amalgamation. Ottawa annexed parts of it over the years, including Alta Vista and Hunt Club in 1950, and the former City of Gloucester held part of Orléans, Riverside South and Findlay Creek.
Cumberland
Cumberland was a township from 1800 and a city from 1999 to 2001. It covered eastern Orléans and villages including Cumberland, Navan, Sarsfield and Vars, and most of it is now the mainly rural Orléans South-Navan Ward. Read more on our Orléans page.
Reading the market
Why one Ottawa price tells you little about a neighbourhood
Ottawa’s monthly figures mix every kind of home in every part of the city. In September 2026 the Ottawa Real Estate Board (OREB) reported an MLS® HPI benchmark of $705,100 for a single-family home, $546,500 for a townhouse and $380,800 for an apartment, so the mix of what sold moves the average.
- Average and median prices follow whatever happened to sell that month.
- The MLS® Home Price Index benchmark tracks the estimated price of a representative home with consistent characteristics, so the mix moves it less.
- Neither one is a price for a single neighbourhood: OREB reports the city and its submarkets, not neighbourhoods.
